Last week, I met two guys in Austin who are working on a plan to move out of their corporate jobs into being business owners. That’s an admirable goal.
What was interesting to me about their planned journey is that it had everything to do with opportunities where they thought they could buy into cash flow and nothing to do about what they were passionate about.
When I asked them if they thought they would love owning the type of business they wanted to get into, they looked at me like I was crazy. Their journey is all about building wealth and financial independence. It didn’t matter how. My journey is about building wealth and financial independence by doing what I love. I guess we see the world differently.
I think that at times it is neither extreme. I started my business out of necessity and a desire for financial freedom by doing something I was good at. Over the past two decades, I have grown to truly love my business - my employee, my customers, my customers’ customers and have a strong passion for what we deliver. Sometimes love and passion are not at first sight, but can grow and blossom over time.
