With the myth that drinking a glass of wine a day is good for the heart drying up, more and more people are embracing a "sober-ish" lifestyle these days. The Wall Street Journal looks at why more people are calling it a night early and waking up more energized.
While most are not willing to give up drinking entirely – they still indulge socially or have just a few drinks at restaurants – they are leaving parties early or skip drinking at a business dinner.
The newly sober-ish crowd is enjoying more meaningful conversations at gatherings, getting up early to take the dog for a walk, and not regretting something they may have said or done after that fifth martini. Many claim that with having aging parents, they became more aware of the benefits of a clean and healthy living.
Intentionally drinking less also makes that occasional glass of wine a little more satisfying.
