Many companies are moving quickly to adopt AI, with some setting up "centers of excellence" to focus on AI expertise and resources, and appointing chief AI officers to top leadership positions.
However, this approach might be a mistake. According to Joe Peppard, a digital transformation expert, it seems that companies are turning to AI strategies without considering whether or not they are ready for it. By lacking the necessary data infrastructure, it can be difficult to implement AI successfully.
Instead of rushing into an AI strategy, companies should prioritize having a strong digital foundation and workforce that will better position themself to use AI meaningfully when the time is right.
